"FedEx" is an abbreviation of the name of the company's original air division, Federal Express, which was used from 1973 until 2000. I've known about the company FedEx for a number of years but one of the things that made me pay more attention to the company was how it was portrayed and marketed in the movie "Cast Away". It gave me a little more insight on how it actually works and the focus on delivery their items quickly and on time where their slogan "When it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight", truly means what they are saying.
